How do I want thee? Let me count the ways.
Wait... that's not going to work. I had this vision in my head of spewing out words like Elizabeth Browning, describing how I want my hotel work space to be. But, obviously, it's not going to work. I do not have the talent to do that nor can I afford to sit here for a couple of hours (if I am lucky!) just to finish a 200 word entry which would probably end up being cringe-worthy.
So... in simple English, it should continue.
Since I spend a lot of my downtime working in my hotel room, I am somewhat critical of how the work area should be.
Here are the characteristics of my idea of what a perfect hotel work area should have:
Large work desk with no glare lighting. The wider the better. More on length rather than depth so I could spread out my papers side by side, without having to push my notebook aside.
Ergonomic Chair. Comfort without the bad posture.
By the window. So that I could take advantage of natural light, when available. And it helps me to see what is right under my nose if I could distract myself for just a minute every hour and clear my head.
Electrical sockets within easy reach. Nothing annoys me more than an electric cable that snakes through half the room.
Phone with answering machine, Free WiFi and printer.
They may seem basic but, believe me, some hotels seem to be interior decorated by someone who has absolutely no idea how it is to be productive in small rooms.

Working in Japan, getting that would be very difficult... My desk is teeny but at least I have free internet and electrical outlets right on top of my desk. The mirror right in front of me freaks me out though....and did I say small?
I didn't know hotels had printers in the rooms though! I've personally never seen one, even in the states. There's been times when I wished someone would develop an ultra light weight USB powered printer. I won't care how expensive they make the ink cartriges. I would buy them in BULK. Know of any?
