In a couple of weeks, I will be flying to Barcelona to stay in L'Amettla del Valles and then to Verona for a 2-day meeting in Vicenza. The addresses for both offices which I would be visiting are in the middle of nowhere.
If I wanted to be practical, I would have to stay in hotels located near those places I mentioned. However, I would be traveling with our young engineer who would rather that we spend our "free time" having a great time and would not mind taking a taxi to get to our meetings from the hotel. So, as advised by another colleague, we’re looking for alternative hotels.
The Global Traveller has found an interesting site (via the FlyerTalk Forum) which could be very useful for this trip. Geared for people who are house-hunting, Walk Score “shows you a map of what's nearby and calculates a Walk Score for any property”. The more a destination has nearby – groceries, cafes, restaurants – the higher score it gets.
For now, though, the concentration is on US address. The site has plans to expand to other countries later. Let’s hope that they get to it real soon.
For now, I would have to check google (rather than Walk Score) for more info on hotels in Italy and Spain.
