Tired, stressed or jetlagged, I am sure that none of you would actually be looking forward to battling the freeway (with you as the driver) after a long flight.
Personally, I prefer being greeted at the arrival area by a complete stranger who is holding up a sign with my name or the name of the company I work for.
Of course, most of us cannot actually expect that kind of welcome all the time. The next best thing? Have someone else drive for you, of course.

ow, should your travels take you to San Francisco International Airport (SFO), you may want consider taking the one of the van or airport shuttles listed on the San Francisco Airport Shuttle. It's more convenient than driving yourself and it's cheaper than taking a taxi -- whether you are going to/from the airport.
You must watch out, though. With all the available shuttles/vans available, you have to keep a few things in mind. San Francisco Airport Shuttle, a ground transportation guide for San Francisco SFO airport with detailed info on all major shared ride vans from the airport, is a great resource.
They have 19 shuttle services listed on their site with phone numbers and price details. Choose the one which fits your requirement the best.
Remember, though, that you may have to wait and/or have other stops since you will be sharing the ride with other travelers. So, if you are in a hurry, you may want to head for the van which is already occupied (but with a free space, of course).
Do check out San Francisco Shuttle and all the other Bay Area Regional Airport Shuttle Guide listed on their site. It should be a great transfer option guide if your travels take you to the Bay area.
