Vicenza in Italy and L’Amettla del Valles in Spain are the next in my list. This means that I would have to book a flight from Frankfurt to Italy then to Spain and then back to Frankfurt.
The problem: Vicenza does not have an airport near it; nor does L’Amettla del Valles.
So I would have to fly from Frankfurt to Milan. Take a 2 hour train ride (I prefer to do this than get lost in driver’s hell, the Italian edition) from Milan to Vicenza, take a taxi; then the reverse so I can go back to Milan and fly to Barcelona where I will take a taxi (more than an hour ride, I suppose) from the airport; and then the reverse so I will end up in Frankfurt. Confused, yet?
Anyway… I would not have minded this multi-segment travel plan if I will be traveling for pleasure. But, I do not really welcome the thought of doing all that, while wearing a business suit (thank God, tailored shorts are currently in fashion for women), toting a laptop and my 4 days worth of luggage. Not to mention the fact that the heat will make sure that I am creased, cooked in my own oil and very tired.
The Spain leg would be a lot easier than the Italian one but I am not really that gung-ho about taking a taxi from Barcelona Airport. I’ve had one too many experience of getting toured around highways which were nowhere near my intended destination. Of course, I’ve been charged more, as well.
Did I mention that also am not looking forward to the looooong lines due to the outrageous amount of tourist who are all set to discover Bella Italia and Viva Espana? Oh yes… I definitely am not looking forward to this trip.
What about you? Have you had any multi-segmented please-spare-me-from-this kind of travel plans? Do share and make me feel a bit better. hehe

There is a major airport in Verona (http://www.aeroportoverona.it/index_en.asp), which is much closer to Vicenza than Milan. Verona is about 35-40 miles away from Vicenza. First you take a 20 minute bus ride from the airport to Verona's main railway station (cost 4.50 euro). Then it is a 26 to 46 minute train ride depending on which train you choose (3.60 to 14.00 euro). Hope that helps cool down your Italy portion.
