Remember reading about that guy afflicted with rare drug-resistant TB who flew from Atlanta to Paris and then returned to the US from Prague to Montreal on board a commercial airline?
When that happened, passengers who were seated near him and cabin crew members were asked by CDC to get themselves checked.
Well now, we have yet another situation which is somewhat similar... this time, though, it's bacterial meningitis.
AirTran Airways have contacted passengers who traveled from Orlando to Wichita after a passenger, who fell sick and was unresponsive during the flight, was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
Bacterial meningitis is a contagious disease which can result in brain damage and even death.
So... if you or someone you know traveled last Saturday (21 July) from Orlando to Atlanta on flight 862 and then to Wichita on flight 687, get yourself checked immediately.

Headache is a symptom of meningitis, a swelling of the tissue surrounding the brain and spinal column. Usually caused by a virus, this condition can cause death. Fast intervention for bacterial meningitis through the use of intravenous antibiotics is called for. Viral meningitis is usually treated with bed rest, fluids and pain medication, with most patients recovering and showing little of no after effects in about two weeks.
