Some people actually think that they are lucky whenever they get bumped from their flight. Why? Because there is money to be made! It could mean several hundreds of dollars extra spending money for the trip which you voluntarily postponed.
BUT, if you are traveling for business and you have people waiting for your arrival to discuss about THE deal, getting dumped is bad news.
Well, if you do not rank high up in the airline's loyalty program, there is no guarantee that your name will not be picked out from the list of people who are getting bumped.
BUT maybe, the increase in compensation could help you get another (maybe more expensive) flight to your destination. That is IF, the American government revises the bumping rules by doubling the compensation.
IF you want to have your say about this, check out Chris Elliott's entry for today. Maybe, your insights could help the government in making their new rule.
