The season when I would rather stay than go is exactly the time when I have more trips than I can handle. Isn't it ironic?
There are tons of reasons why I'd rather do business over the internet or the phone but there are situations wherein I have no other choice but to pack my bags. But, whine, I still do.
Having said that...
Here at the top 5 reasons why I hate business travel in the Summer:
- Summer = Sun = Beach = Vacation NOT Work
- More kids in airports and on the plane. Don't get me wrong. I do have kids and I travel with them a lot. I just do not like traveling with unruly kids. And with my luck, when I am sitting on economy (rather than on business) class, I would be sitting near the only you-cannot-shush-them child in the airplane. Not mine, of course.
- It's that time of the year when I would rather wear office don'ts (flipflops, shorts, tanktops) but stuck with wearing a suit instead. Of course, the heat can make even the most comfortable suit feel like an armor.
- The kids are home and my life/balance point status becomes negative.
- Have I already mentioned, "Summer = Sun = Beach = Vacation NOT Work"?

Haaaaaaaaaaaaate it. But mostly because I still mainly travel in the summer time and it's horribly hot and humid and sticky and it's a suit and tie culture. To add to the nastiness, Japan is, once again, doing a "cool biz" thing where they will only lower the office AC to something crazy like 80...but you don't have to wear a tie! Ooooh. Of course, when we go to meetings and such...yeah...it's ties for me.
Oh well.
