Do you know what information is stored on the magnetic strip that is in your hotel room card key?
Well, according to the viral email that has been going around, it has your name, address, room number, check in & out dates and credit card information.
This rumor (which is being circulated since 2003) caused many to believe that hotel room card keys can be used as a tool for identity theft.
Is it true?
Well, apparently, this is just an urban myth. There are no personal information not credit card numbers stored in those card keys. Even the guests name is not written on it.
