With the threat of Murphy's Law always in the back of my mind, I always make sure that back-ups (plural, mind you) are made for files that I have worked hard on. So if Murphy's Law prevails, I will be spared from WTF situations which could leave me embarassed or, worse, fired.
When making back-ups, I always do so using an external drive (my trusty USB stick) and by sending the file to myself by email using my web-based account.
Another way (which I, strangely, just discovered today) which is also a great way to make a back-up is by using GSpace, a site that provided free online storage. It turns your 2GB Gmail account into free online storage.
