Northeastern rains poured and, apart from massive flooding, this also caused many flights to be canceled and delayed.
Flight cancelations or delays can happen to all of us, wherever in the world we may be flying from. And when it happens, some (if not, most) of us are stuck at the airport at the mercy of the weather and/or the airline.
WHAT IF we can avoid all the airport chaos and important meetings missed?
WHAT IF we can try to figure out in advance (so we can stay in the confines of our house; or make alternate arrangements?
James Wysong tells us how to use our power of observations to figure out if trouble is on the way with his 10 early-warning signs that your flight may be canceled or seriously delayed.
- Thunderstorms rattling your windows could mean a long wait at the airport.
- An announcement that the flight is on "decision".
"Decision means that Operation Control is determining if the airplane can go or not. It also means you should start deciding on a backup plan." - No new estimated departure time may mean that you are in for a long wait.
- Meal vouchers are being distributed
- Flight crew starts de-planing
- Mechanics come in
- You are distracted by the crew with a movie while waiting at the departure gate
- An expression of disappointment from your stewardess after a phone call from the cockpit while you are taxiing.
- If the stewardesses at the back of the plane (which is still on the ground) are talking about their layover plans.
- First class passengers are being led away with their luggages.
I will keep those tips in mind, if I were you.
