Were you one of those who were not really happy that newly-issued US passports are RFID-tagged? If you are, you wouldn't be happy with the possibilities proposed by the Optag project.
WHO: Optag project, headed by Dr. Paul Brennan, an electrical engineer at University College London.
WHAT: Improvement of airport efficiency and security through a more effective way of monitoring passengers.
HOW: Issue each passenger with an RFID tag (which has a range of 10 to 20 metres and can be located within a radius of one metre) at check-in; Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) system located all over the airport.
WHY: Optag is primarily aimed at improving airport security.
Dr. Paul Brennan must be a Big Brother fan.
