When I was a new student back in the old days or while I was being introduced around during my first day at work, I was overwhelmed with the number of names and faces which I needed to memorize.
Nowadays, I only need to remember a handful of names and attach them to faces whenever I am faced with new clients. But, it doesn't make it any easier since, after all, I am older. My memory -- when it comes to names and faces -- only has the capacity of an XT computer. hehe
If you are like me, here's an interesting solution:
"Here's how it works: as you are introduced to people, you draw a quick and simple map (much like the one above) with their names and any identifying characteristics you think will help you recall their names later; i.e., Bob/Beard/Good with Numbers, etc."
Something to keep in mind, especially when faced with business cultures that put a big importance to heirarchy. Imagine addressing/greeting the, say, Chinese manager before the President?! That would be a major faux pas!
