I work in a male-dominated business and deal mostly with, obviously, men.
The fact that I am female, young (well, relatively) and of Asian-descent (in some countries, this matters a lot) means that I need all the help I can get.
Believe me, I have been discriminated against more often than I care to remember.
So, apart from making sure that I know the business on hand, before traveling overseas on business, I always make it a point to read about the business culture of the people I would be dealing with. It's my number one survival technique.
