New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission has announced the increase in the rate of fare for taxi cabs. The meter charge for "wait time" has been changed to 40 cents per minute from 20 cents.
What exactly is wait time, you may ask. It's when the cab is moving at less than 12 miles per hour; it used to be at 6 miles per hour.
In addition, trips from Manhattan to Kennedy International Airport (and not just from the airport into Manhattan as what was previously implemented) will now have a flat rate of $45.
Since taxi fares are normally considered reimbursable travel expenditure, I am sure that you would not have any problems with the price hike.
I just thought you would want to know to avoid an embarassing "I take this route a lot and I normally only pay so-so and you are cheating me" type of accusations.
