One excellent example which caught my eye is the service being given by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
Apart from making sure that guests' room preferences are considered, they have also taken to giving fashion advices, as reported by NYT.
Other perks are grocery shopping, DVD rentals and laundry services at no extra charge.
Now, that's a hotel after my own heart. I have yet to stay at any of the Fairmont properties but I sure will keep a lookout for them on my next trip.

I just stayed at a Fairmont Hotel, and it is one of my favorite chains.
EVERY single staff member that I encountered, from the maids, to the bellman, to the maintenance guy, to the front desk person -- EVERY single person looked me in the eye, said hello, asked if I was enjoying my stay, and inquired if I needed anything or if there was anything that I wanted.
Very nice way to make a traveler feel welcome.
