According to Roger E. Axtell from the book Do's and Taboos Around the World for Women in Business, the following is the basic guideline for Being On Time Around the World:
- Countries with a high regard for promptness includes all of Nothern Europe.
- Countries where promptness is appreciated and expected include Canada, Australia, UK, France and the USA.
- Countries with a relax attitude toward punctuality includes Southern Europe and the most of the Mediterranean.
- Countries with a lax attitude toward promptness include most of Latin America and much of Asia.
The thing is, as true as these facts may be and wherever your meeting may be, it would still be best to arrive on the time agreed. For all you know, you may be in Asia but the person you are meeting is, say, US-traine. Then, you definitely wouldn't be making a good impression, would you?
