Never have I checked-in my laptop. Ever.
What about you?
With the current security measures being imposed, some of us have no choice.
However, for those who will be flying from the UK, you may be faced with a problem as electronics are not in the list of allowed carry-on items which can be placed on transparent plastic bags. Instead, travellers are being forced to check them in. And with checked-in luggages, especially with valuable and fragile electronic items, there is that danger of it getting damaged or stolen.
So... what are your (those who are flying from the UK) options?!
- Leave the laptop at home and store all necessary data needed in a USB stick and/or email yourself (using a web-based mail) a copy. When you get to your destination, rent a laptop.
- Send your laptop by FedEx or UPS a day in advance to your hotel.
- Buy a durable laptop bag, put your laptop in your checked-in luggage and pray. Pray hard. Cross your fingers, while you are at it.
