No, not that survival kit I'd need if *knock on wood* something unmentionable should happen.
It's my personal on-board survival kit should (1) I fail to fall asleep during that long-haul flight; (2) the plane not have anything in their entertainment console that takes my fancy; (3) I be stuck staring at the ceilling, twiddling my thumbs; (4) need something that the standard amenity kit does not provide; and/or (5) my seatmate talks as if he/she is a taxi driver who needs to bombard me with small talk.
So... my personal Top Ten Plane Survival Items are:
- Tiger Balm or Vicks - headache alert; also helps whenever I need to block out a certain smell
- book (fiction, easy-read) - should I need to relax and clear my mind
- my favorite chocolate bar - for that sugar rush
- iPOD - should I not be in the mood for small talk and/or when I need to zone out
- laptop - if and only if I really need to work
- iPAQ - purely for the games, to relax my mind
- Anti-bacterial wipes - I just don't trust the cleanliness of the toilet
- Business Cards - as anti-social as I may sometimes seem, I still do indulge in small talk with fellow business travellers from time to time. Better safe to have these as I might be able to find a good network on-board.
- Lip Balm
- Aspirin - you'll never know...
What about you? What keeps you sane whenever you can't sleep during a 14-hour flight?
