
Months before the World Cup 2006 started, I warned partners from other countries to try and avoid visiting our office during the duration of the World Cup.
As I expected, people are instead bent on being here during the World Cup:
- a couple of our partners abroad showed interest in scheduling meetings in our office located in Frankfurt, Germany (one of the host cities) to coincide with the World Cup.
- a few of my colleagues have made sure that NO meeting abroad is scheduled because, obviously, they want to stay right where the World Cup action is.
I am not really a fan of the games but I do revel in the palpable energy of the people milling around Frankfurt. And I surely can understand why a lot of my colleagues have opted NOT to schedule any business trip during this time.
And, guess what, no one seems to be complaining... not even the bosses.
