"Heading off for a two-week business trip, Gary Hacker made it aboard his 4 p.m. flight to Chicago -- but his 50-pound Samsonite suitcase wasn't as lucky.
'I was in casual clothes. I had no change of underwear, no contact lens solution and I had a meeting the next morning.'"
Don't let what happened to Gary Hacker happen to you.
With the number of travellers increasing to high levels, it is best to prepare yourself on your next business travel. Expect long lines, full planes, delayed flights and -- if you are unlucky -- the possibility of lost/delayed luggages.
In short, prepare for the worst.
Be at the airport early. If you are there way ahead of schedule, you can always work or relax at the business lounge until you are ready to board. Better to wait than be late.
Make sure all your bookings are confirmed before you leave. Murphy's Law might prevail and you might *knock on wood* suddenly find yourself without a room.
Pack your essentials in your carry-on. Apart from all the stuff which you will definitely need for your meeting, it would be best to include: a change of clothes/underwear, medicine and tootbrush. Just make sure that you will have what you need, should your luggage lose its way.
Or, you can always just opt to avoid business travel during this season.
