Do you still remember how you first business trip was? I do.
My power suit was new, my borrowed office-issued laptop was heavy and I was nervous. But, I felt bigger than life.
My first ever business trip was for a 3-day trip to Hong Kong. I flew business class (my first time), was booked in a classy hotel and had luncheon and dinner meetings with our supplier in Hong Kong. All I needed to do during that trip was to listen to the presentation; and write a report and a recommendation to my home office after the trip.
I didn't care that the only reason I got sent was because my boss was expected elsewhere.
That was back in 1999. I have not looked back since. And my views regarding business trips have surely changed since then.
How about YOU? Do you still remember your first trip? Tell me about it!

I do remember my first business trip! Thanks for the flashback =) It was early 1997 and I had just gotten a promotion within the Company. The week before starting, my new boss called to advise that my first business trip would be that very Tuesday. Wow! What made this even more exciting was the fact that that this business trip would be back home, to Jamaica. Being my first business trip, I was not really plagued with too much anxiety as both my manager and another colleague from our department were also going. I however do not recall my first solo business trip that probably followed just a few months after. It would have been either to HQ in New York or some country in Latin America or the Caribbean. Like you, I have not looked back since, and my views regarding business trips have also and definitely changed since then.
