Can you imagine what you could have done had you not been caught in long lines while checking in and going through security checks?

Delays seem to be the norm when travelling by air.  We cannot do anything about that. However, we could try to reduce the time (not to mention stress) we spend standing aimlessly, waiting behind long lines.

Loyalty programs we have participated in can take care of the checking-in part as dedicated check-in counters do help a lot.

Security, though, is another matter. 

Since 9/11 happened, screenings have been more rigorous.  You may not be able to hurry up the line but you could make their screening of you and your carry-on luggage easier.  By preparing for security checks, you can save yourself the time and the hassle.   The Transport Security Administration has Key Travel Tips to help you reduce wait time at the security checkpoint.

A relatively new option would be to get CLEAR.

I do hope that the network of airports would grow to cover more airports soon.  That way, it would really be worth it.
