Being able to combine business with pleasure is one of the advantages we, people whose position requires travel, enjoy. And according to IHT, this time-honored practice is alive and well.
I'll let figures (as per the result of Travelocity's survey of British customers) do the talking. Survey says...
- 8 out of 10 long-haul travellers add days to business trips for personal holidays.
- 68% of short-haul travellers take a personal break at the end of their business trips, 52% choose to fly somewhere else
- 53% choose New York as their favorite long-haul destination
- Las Vegas is the favorite "add-on" city for business travellers to N. America.
- On short haul trips, top business destinations are: Milan, Madrid, Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam.
- 62% asked friends or family members to join them on their trip; 38% chose to relax alone.
I, for one, am also one of the biggest supporter of turning my business trips into extended vacations. For a minimal cost, I get to enjoy and share with my family the perks (nice hotels, far-away destinations) of business travel.
