I can only gasp in surprise whenever I see the price written on my tickets or whenever I check out and pay my hotel bills.
See, I work for a big company. Booking of flights and hotels are done by the secretaries. Methinks, no amount of work is spent searching for the best deal. Especially since, instead of looking online for the best deal, they just book through a business travel agency. Aim of said business travel agency, as I have observed, does not seem to include saving our company some money by giving us the best cost.
I sometimes get the impression that the secretaries get more benefits than I do with my mileage, considering that I travel 1-3 times per month. Some of us have noticed that said secretaries seem to be vacationing in exotic places, many times in one year. Don't even ask me what is delivered for them come Christmas.
Owners of small businesses, listen up.
Make sure that you do have a guideline about booking tickets, if someone else has to do it at work. Otherwise, search for flights yourself. It will definitely save you some money.
